The root jumps to a new pitch periodically during gameplay — the same noteset is reseated on a fresh root, building the ability to summon the noteset by its type from any root. This makes playing in any key trivial.

A minor mode with a raised 6th — bittersweet and jazzy
Dorian is a minor major mode (it contains the minor 3rd from the root), built on the 2nd degree of the major scale. It differs from aeolian (the minor scale) in its sixth degree, a major 6th rather than a minor 6th — darker than major but brighter than minor. The raised 6th gives it a bittersweet quality, somewhere between sadness and hope. It adds the major 2nd and major 6th to the minor pentatonic.
